ANNUAL REPORT - 2018
The year 2017-18 has been a remarkable year for KV DRDO. Our students have excelled themselves in their academic results, but have also shown their prowess in Sports and other co- curricular activities.
KV DRDO has excelled in the overall academic performance by clocking a neat 100% in the class X and XII CBSE exam held in March 2018.
24students, out of the 180 who appeared scored 95% and above marks and were placed amongst the top 1.5% students in Class 10 CBSE Examinations 2018.They have received a merit certificate and cash award of Rs 5000 from KVS.
KVDRDO outshined all other KVs of the region to emerge as the top school in Bangalore region in class X with 100% pass result and a high Performance Index of 79.5. The school was awarded two trophies for this commendable achievement.
G Chaitra of class X scored 99% with centum in Science and Sanskrit was the topper in KVS Bangalore Region, and II topper amongst all CBSE schools in Karnataka.She was felicitated by the Governor during the Independence day. She will represent KV DRDO at the Republic day celebration in New Delhi.
Shubhaprada, was the II topper at KVS regional level, with 98.6%. She too secured centum in mathematics, Science and Sanskrit.
Arundhati G with 97.6% held the third position at school. She scored centum in Science and Sanskrit. S P Kavana, Gaganashree, Neha Kumari and Anamika too bagged centum in Mathematics, Social science and Sanskrit.
In class XII CBSE examination held in March 2018,86 students appeared and registered100% pass resultto receive a trophy from KVS.
Ashwin Vardharajan, SriramK and Hariharan of class XII were placed amongst the top 1.5% students in Class 12 CBSE Examinations 2018, who scored 95% and above marks. They have received a merit certificate and cash award of Rs10000 from KVS for their spectacular performance.
Ashvin Vardharajan secured 485 out of 500 and stood first at the school level.
Sriram K and Hariharan with a score of 475/500 stood second, and Souvik Pal stood a close third scoring 472 out of 500.
The internal exam results for classes VI –IX and XI were equally encouraging with an overall result of 98.31%.
The primary section ie. Classes I-V registered 100 % pass result. To achieve the expected learning outcome, we are implementing the Back to Basics program which ensures that the minimum level of learning is achieved for every child. Learner Achievement Test is conducted to find out the student’s area of weakness.6 weeks of readiness program is conducted for Class I to enable a smooth transition into the school environment. Classes I and II have informal tests which are conducted in 8 cycles.
I am very happy to announce that Master Souvik Pal cleared the JEE mains and got placed in IIT Mumbai. Master Ashvin Vardharajan secured 338th position in all India ranking and Karnataka state 4th in NEET 2018.He was the all India topper in AFMC boys merit and is presently pursuing MBBS from AFMC Pune. He has been appointed the term cadet captain at AFMC Pune due to his spectacular achievement. Master Hariharan and Ms. Bindsi Sarangi are now pursuing the MBBS course from Bangalore and Bellary Medical college respectively.
Another 60 students from the batch of 2017 have got admissions in different professional colleges across the country.
KV DRDO encourages all the students to work hard and play hard, and indeed, the various trophies they win at different competitions and sporting events is a testimony of that.
GAMES AND SPORTS form an integral part of the school curriculum. The school has proper facilities for the disciplines like Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Skating rink, Chess and Yoga, etc. The school has recruited three additional coaches to train students for various competitive sports.
2 girls and 2 boys represented Bangalore in the under 19 Skating event at the 49th KVS National Meet.
Ø Ms Saikruthi of class IX D bagged 1 gold and 1 silver medal in the Skating Quad event.
Ø Ganga Yamuna of IX C bagged 1 gold and 1 silver medal in the Skating Quad event.
Ø Master Gagandeep of IX D bagged the 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in the Skating Inline event.
Ø Master Balasubramanium of IX A bagged 2 silver and 1 bronze in the Skating Inline event.
3 boys and 2 girls represented Bangalore in the under 17 category Badminton event at the 49th KVS National Meet.
Ø Ms M Madhusree of class X C and Ms Priyanka Astikar of IX B bagged the silver and bronze medal respectively in the U17 individual event.
Ø Master Aashman D Costa of class X, Master A. Sriram U of IX D and MasterKushagra of class X A bagged the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively in U 17 individual event.
3 boys Heman V, Master Abhinav and Master Ujjwal of class XII C were part of the team that represented KVS Bangalore region at the KVS National meet 2018 in Under 19 Football and Cricket. The Bangalore team bagged the silver medal in both the events.
Ø Master Srinivas Challa Parthiv of class XI is an accomplished Basketball player who has represented KVS at the 48th National Sports Meet and Karnataka state at the open National organized by Karnataka State Basketball association.
Ø Master Karthik Dileep of class IX B is a budding rowing champion and represented Karnataka state at the National Rowing championship meet 2018 in 500m Double skull event.
Various inter house sports competitions were conducted at Vidyalaya level for the primary section too, in which all 1186 enrolled students were given opportunity to compete.
Ø Ms. Dhinidhi of class 3D is talented young swimmer with an ambition to conquer the world of swimming. She participated in various swimming competitions from major swimming clubs of Karnataka and won many championships, gold and silver medals. Master Prateek Kaundilya of class 4 B participated in U -10 inter school badminton tournament conducted by the Ramesh Padukone- Mehul Sirir memorial at Canara Union and beat Sai Pushkar (TSS) in the semifinals. (21-9,21-13) recently.
Ø Master Yuvaraja ,5D, Sana R ,4E and Kusumita, 4C participated in the national level Yogasana championship 2018 held at Patel Public School, Subbaiahnapalya Bengaluru and won medals and certificates of merit.
Ø Master Manohar ,4C is going to represent the state in the U-11 category in the Roller Skate Basketball game – National Level Championship at Pune at the end of December 2018.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIESgives ample opportunities to students to showcase not only their talents but also focusses on developing the essential life skills of collaboration, team spirit, leadership etc. through various inter house competitions. The school celebrated the Investiture ceremony, Teacher’s day, Vigilance day, ParyatanParv, National Unity Day, Swachta Pakhwada, Hindi Pakhwada, Sanskrit Pakhwada, Children’s day, Grandparents day, National Education day, Independence Day etc. A total of 900 students have received certificates and prizes in Inter house competitions this year.
Our students have also participated in many state and national competitions and brought laurels to the vidyalaya.
We at KV DRDO provide great opportunities for the children to participate in co-curricular activities, which are conducted systematically ensuring maximum participation. Various inter house activities like colouring, origami, recitation, diya decoration, group song, dance skits were conducted, for all round development.
The school celebrated the Investiture ceremony, Teacher’s day, Vigilance day, ParyatanParv, National Unity Day, Swachta Pakhwada, Hindi Pakhwada, Sanskrit Pakhwada, Children’s day, Grandparents day, National Education day, Independence Day etc. as part of the co-curricular activities. The school also celebrated Hindi and Sanskrit Pakhwada, Teachers day, Independence day, Grandparents day, in a grand manner. Various competitions were conducted to motivate our children. A total of 900 students have received certificates and prizes in Inter house competitions this year in the secondary section.
Council members were elected through the democratic process of elections in the secondary and nomination in primary, and badges were pinned in a glittering Investiture ceremony in the month of August. The school celebrated Ekta diwas to instill the spirit of unity among the fellow beings.As part of the Swatchta hi sewa hai campaign, the students took swachatha pledge, witnessed a demo on proper method of hand wash, interactive sessions on segregation of waste, performed skits and cleaned the class room etc. Mrs Chanchal and Mrs D R Sarita, PTA members addressed students on cleanliness and personal hygiene.The highlight of the celebration was the participation of our Assistant Commissioner Shri A.K.Mishra and Principal Dr Nutan Punj in the Hand wash campaign.
Our students have also participated in many state and national competitions and brought laurels to the vidyalaya.
Ø More than 120 students of the vidyalaya have taken part in the National and International level exams of SOF, NSTSE etc.19 students wrote the Regional Math Olympiad in 2018 and 3 students Master Master Tharun Karthik of X B, Aditya Somasundar of XI A and Akash Sinha of class XA have qualified for the Indian National Math Olympiad to held in 2019.
Ø Master TharunKarthik of X B secured the seventh rank in the International Math Olympiadand was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-Gold medal and Merit Certificate in 2018.
Ø Arnav Agarwal of class 6 with a national ranking of 96 has won the Gold medal in International Science and Math Olympiad and silver in the International General Knowledge Olympiad. Hehas also won Gold medal in English and Cyber National Olympiad.
Ø With an International ranking of 64 in the National Cyber Olympiadand 32 in the International Math Olympiad, Adwaita Das Talukdar of class 5D has won a Gold medals in the National Science Olympiad and General Knowledge Olympiad too.
Ø Arjun Binesh Kumar of 4D, bagged the Gold medal in International General Knowledge, English and Cyber Olympiad. He has also secured the 6th rank in Inter-School Spell bee competition.
Ø Divyajeet B M and Avani Mittal of class 3 won a Gold medal in the International English Olympiad with an international ranking of 21 and 71 respectively.
Ø In the Paryatan Parv contest 2018, Master Yashraj of XI A won the second place in the on the Spot Essay Writing Competition, and Manasi Wad of X B was declared as the First Runner-up in Extempore.
Ø Suhani Kedar of IX D bagged the second prize in the Elocution Contest by ISRO on ‘Eradicate Corruption- Build a New India’ for KV Students.
Ø Miss Bhumika Ramesh of IX C has qualified for the national prize in the written Quiz Contest for philately club members organised by the Postal Department.
Ø In the NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP/ literary fest organised by KVS, 62 students participated in 13 events covering debate, dance, song, quiz, kavya path, Sanskrit shloka, elocution, drawing painting, spell bee, solo dance song etc.at the cluster level out of which 5 students represented the vidyalaya at regional level. One project got selected for national level. Keshav Srinivasan of class 10 A, represented Bangalore region at the National Level in Quiz Competition.
Ø Gautam Kumar and Kaushal Yadav of class XII A won the first prize in the Bangalore Material Quiz conducted by IISc and were selected for National level at Kalpakkam.
Ø Avika Rathod of class 2D is a budding actress and a Karate champion. She has acted in Kannada tele serials like Jo Jo Laali, Godra, Kaajal, Padde Huli. She plays a prominent role in the movie Kalachakra. She was also crowned Miss Yelahanka 2018, Kids model for US Polo Assn Brand, Miss Best Eyes, kids fashion from Barbie-Toyrus. She also won Ist prize in Bengaluru Karate Fest 2018.
Ø Students from classes I to V participated in various competitions like sloka recitation, essay writing, quiz etc in the Utsaha Cultural Competitions 2018 conducted by DRDO.
Ø The national level science talent search Examination 2019 by Unified Council was conducted in the month of December 2018. A total of 286 students have appeared in the examination. 84 students of class V participated in the Bharatiya Sanskriti Gyan Pariksha.
SCOUT AND GUIDE
The Scout and Guide movement in the school is very active with 156 cubs,127 Bulbul,172 scouts and 165 guide. The Cubs and Bulbuls movement in the school is very active with 156 cubs,127 Bulbul. A variety of fun and non-formal activities were conducted for cubs and Bulbuls to empower them to reach their full potential by building confidence.
4 guides Jyeshta, Satya, Hrudya S Nair, C Sanjana and 3 Scouts Kavinesh, Prerath and Thushar of class X have applied for the Rashtrapati Testing Camp to be held later this year.7 scouts and 8 guides participated in the RajyaPuraskar testing Camp held at CRPF Yelahanka and RWF Yelahanka from 26.07.2018 to 30.07.201810 scouts and 13 guides participated in it this year. KV DRDO was the venue for Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp for Guides from 11.08.2018 to 13.08.2018.10 scouts and 13 guides participated in it this year.20 teachers of the school are trained Scout and Guide masters.
YOGA is an integral part of the curriculum and finds space in the morning assembly. Trained Yoga teacher has been employed to teach students different Asanas and Pranayama by assigning separate Yoga period for every class. The school observed the International Yoga Day on 21 June with full fervour and zeal. Yoga relieves stress by calming the mind, boosts concentration and fosters Good health.
MEDICAL CHECKUP is carried out at regular intervals for all classes by employing a doctor and staff nurse and a health card maintained for every child. A free eye check-up was also conducted. The mission of de -worming children between the age of 1 to 19 was completed by administering the de worming tablet Albendazole.
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING is an integral part of school curriculum and the school has appointed a qualified educational counsellor and a special educator to cater to the specific needs of students with learning disorder and also to guide students on various emotional and behavioural issues, career opportunities, academics etc.GP. Captain Anoop Sood conducted a session for students of XI and XII on career opportunities in the army. Another interactive session on handling Drug menace was conducted by the police officials from Bypannahalli police station. Anti-Bullying Committee is active and helps monitor and check bullying in campus.
COMMUNITY LUNCH is regularly organized in the primary section and occasionally in secondary section in order to ensure the feeling of oneness, belongingness, brotherhood and much more values. Children cherish delicious food with their friends. This inculcate values like sharing, concern for others, living in harmony with others and much more.
ON GOING PROJECTS
We at KV DRDO are conscious of our responsibilities towards the planet Earth and towards our society and have initiated many projects as mentioned here.
SWASTH BACHCHE, SWASTH BHARAT is an innovative step of KendriyaVidyalayaSangathan in pursuit of building Active Schools. Under this initiative a Comprehensive and Inclusive Report Card of all the 2216 students enrolled with us is being prepared. This initiative aims at making physical activity and recreational games an integral part of learning process, motivating potentially outstanding performers and using technology for data capture and analytics among others.
WELLBEING OUT OF WASTE [WOW] is another project taken up in collaboration with ITC. The project encourages people to manage waste, source segregation and recycling thereby minimizing landfill. Donation camps were held in school where students donated their old text books and notebooks. The school donated new books and stationery to Government school Kaggadaspura.
ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY PROJECTS -The school has successfully implemented projects like SAVE PAPER, NO PLASTIC, SEGREGATION OF WASTE etc.
GREEN SCHOOL PROGRAMME -Theproject aims at skillfully managing the available resources for optimum utilization and Greener schools. The class XI students are presently exploring viable options to minimize waste generation, recycle water and conserve energy.
‘BALA: Building as Learning Aid’, is an innovative project under which the posters and drawings made by students are displayed at various places of the Vidyalaya as a learning aid.
JIGYASA project Under the JIGYASA project 386 students from our vidyalaya visited the CSIR lab, NAL campus with the aim to trigger curiosity and spirit of research among students.
ROUTE TO ROOT is a digital learning platform designed to teach performing arts, both instrumental music and traditional dance forms. Students from classes third to eight both primary and secondary are at present learning Guitar, Keyboard, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Tabla, Harmonium through live demos and interactive sessions through Pre-installed system during Art and Craft period. A Live performance by renowned Guitarist Shri Biranjeet Singh was organized in the vidyalaya on 29th June 2017 to motivate students.
THE AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM– is a three year graded value education program that aims at empowering students by integrating values in their lives.12 trained teachers are presently involved in the effective implementation of this program.
ADOLESCENCE EDUCATION PROGRAM – is an integral part of the school curriculum and students of classes VIII to XI are members of the adolescent club. Two children each, from these classes have been appointed peer educators who along with the school counsellor, master trainers and nodal teachers address all queries. Issues are addressed through street plays, skits and role play etc. during the morning assembly. The boys and girls were counselled separately, on appropriate behaviour with their peers. Poster making, and writing poems and slogans on topics relevant to adolescent education.
SHALADARPAN is a novel venture by KVS to ensure transparency in the system. The evaluation of the academic and co-curricular activities of the child is reflected in the website of Shaladarpan.
BHASHA SANGAM - Underthe programme “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” the we have introduced all the 22 Indian Languages of Schedule VIII of the Constitution of India in the morning assembly, with an aim to enhance linguistic tolerance and respect, and promote national integration.
HOBBY CLASSES –German is being taught as a hobby language in classes V to VIII. Kannada is being taught to interested students with the help of Parent volunteers.
An Innovative Educational Programme for young boys and girls was introduced by WAGGGS in partnership with Dove Self Esteem project- Free being me (FBM) this year.

STAFF ENRICHMENT PROGRAM - Staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in the field of education. Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated, by Attending workshops and various in house training programs. Teachers from our school have undergone training in Adolescence education, ‘Back to Basic’, Awakened citizens program, Scout and guide training, text evaluation etc. The school was venue for the Induction course for primary teachers and in-service course for PGT Economics.
Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better and Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. The motto of our mentor and our inspiration Dr Nutan Punj, Principal, KV DRDO is Service to Humanity. Her undaunted dedication, sincerity and commitment to the organisation, the staff and students has been recognised by KVS and she has been awarded with the KVS National Incentive award 2019 for excellence in education. She was felicitated in glittering ceremony in KVS HQ New Delhi.

The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.
Ø SUPPORT SCHOOL PROGRAM–is an initiative wherein KV DRDO has adopted two schools namely Govt. Higher Primary School, Nagavarapalya and Government School Kaggadaspura to lend a supporting hand in the field of education. We extend our support to these less privileged schools by donating books, inviting students and teachers to witness the social science exhibition, Independence day celebrations and also explore the Atal Tinkering lab.
Ø While our staff donated a day’s salary towards the KERALA FLOOD RELIEF, the students extended their support by donating packaged food, candle, medicine etc.
Ø An amount of Rs.6140/- was collected towards the Indian Association for the Blind Donation.18 pairs of BATA shoes to the Visually Impaired Children of Sri Rukam School for the Blinds, Indira Nagar on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Ø An amount of Rs.5254/- was collected and sent in the form of DD to National Foundation of Communal Harmony for the uplift and welfare of war victim children.
Ø Smile foundation - Morning Assembly addressed by Mr. Anand, the Senior Manager urging the students to donate for the noble cause. An amount of Rs. 30,254/- was contributed by Classes VI & VII.
Ø Classes 6th to 7th contributed towards Cancer Aids Foundation and total of RS 16,500/- CASH. Money was handed over to Sunil Vaish Convener from the foundation.
The school is spread over 4.92 acres and has 50 classrooms. In addition, the school also boasts of well-equipped Chemistry, Physics, Math, language, Junior scienceand Biology labs. The school has an enviable ICT infrastructure with 15 e classrooms, three well equipped computer labs, one primary resource room, an activity hall, sports room, medical room etc. The Atal Tinkering lab kindles the spirit of inquiry in students and has advanced 3D printer, Bibox Hornbill micro controller, different kinds of sensors, IR cameras etc. Most classes in secondary and few in primary have been fitted with LCD projectors and interactive boards to make the teaching learning process fun and interactive.
On behalf of the entire KV DRDO team we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the DRDO, EMU and MES officials for the much required value addition to the existing infrastructure. The school is getting a facelift and some of the changes that are already visible is as follows:
1. Six additional classrooms with new furniture have been added this year.
2. Hard standing concrete work of the Car Parking and Cycle parking area was completed earlier this year and it is in use now.
3. The school entrance now bears a new look thanks to the newly constructed arch and a much bigger gate. The pedestrian walk from the main road
4. Additional 8 CCTV cameras have been installed in different locations to ensure safety and security of the students in the premises. The school now has 48 CCTV cameras to ensure safety and security of students.
5. The roof treatment for “A” block has been completed. New Drains and new pipelines are being laid in the assembly ground.
6. The new assembly ground roof shed is complete with electrical fittings.Drainage work and floor tiling work in and around the shed is expected to be completed by Feb 2019.
7. The is a venue for various events and a Kitchen was added this year to facilitate hosting events.
8. 33 new computers were received from the KVS Head quarter boosting existing computer infrastructure.
9. A new life skill garden has been added in the ‘C’ Block.
10. The Library has been enriched with new books, a new interactive library blog with e content and study material and a language lab. Parents may check the school website for link to the Library blog.
The school is ably supported by the PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION and VIDYALAYA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Meetings are held at regular intervals to review, analyze, and evaluate the working of the vidyalaya.
